What Is Twitter?

Twitter is an information network made up of 140-character messages called Tweets. It was designed to help you discover the latest news related to subjects of interest to you and to keep up with events in the lives of your acquaintances. Messages from users you choose to follow will show up in your Twitter newsfeed (called your Twitter "Timeline") for you to read. It allows you to keep up with news and events as they happen.
